Many of us have had some kind of exposure to classroom pets in our lifetime, whether we have been in the place of student,
teacher, or parent. The idea of a pet in the classroom appears to be gaining in popularity. Children seem to genuinely enjoy
having an animal in the classroom, and teachers feel that they are instilling qualities such as responsibility in the children.
However, this may not be the whole story. After all, what does the animal feel? An animal that is often found in the classroom
setting is the rabbit. Long ears, seemingly gentle personalities, and it's long-time association with children appear to
make the rabbit the ideal animal for the classroom. This is simply not the case. I personally share my home with four rabbits
and have done a great deal of reading about and research on the rabbit and they should never find a home in a classroom.
Below are pictures of my four rabbits: Jasper, Membea, De, and Boo.
